Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Are your products handmade?
A: Yes! Every item at Custom Western Works is hand-crafted with care by Ashley and her family in Northern Michigan. We use genuine leather, quality hardware, and hand-drawn tooling or fringe work to make each piece truly one of a kind.
Q: Do you take custom orders?
A: Yes, when time allows! Custom orders are a special part of what we do, but they’re currently offered only in person at pop-up events, craft fairs, or by direct message when our schedule allows. We’re not accepting custom orders through the website at this time. If you catch us at a local show, be sure to ask - we’d love to work with you on something one-of-a-kind.
Q: How long does it take to receive my order?
A: Most ready-made items ship within 3-5 business days. Custom orders usually take 2-4 weeks, depending on the complexity and our current order queue. IF you need a rush order, just ask!
Q: What kind of leather do you use?
A: We use full-grain and top-grain leathers - tough, beautiful, and made to last. Many of our hides come from U.S. suppliers and are chosen for their texture, strength, and western character.
Q: How do I care for my leather item(s)?
A: Treat it like a good saddle. Avoid soaking it, don’t leave it in direct sun too long, and condition it every so often with a quality leather balm or oil. If you ever need help, just holler.
Q: Do you offer returns or exchanges?
A: Because each item is made by hand, we don’t accept returns on custom orders. But if there’s ever an issue with craftsmanship or sizing, reach out and we’ll make it right.
Q: Where are you located?
A: We’re located in Charlevoix, Michigan - surrounded by woods, water, and wild ideas. We don’t have a storefront yet, but we’re always here online and at local markets. Be sure to visit our Events and Pop-Ups Page for the latest.
